Day Two

So I am currently in WDW and no doubt happily having a dole whip float as I type! However it set me thinking, what preparations do people make prior to their trips? I know I do quite a bit so I thought, over the next few days, I would share and if I have missed anything, please please please tweet or email me to help fill in the blanks! Where do you go to on your first day? It has been a tradition to always go to Animal Kingdom so that will be my first stop.

So after several rides on Everest, a safari and a rapid ride it will be off to flame tree BBQ for the most delicious meal of St Louis style ribs mmm. No doubt some pottering around, shopping and admiring the surroundings the call of the bargains will have kicked in so it will be off to the outlets! I hate these shops with a passion but the savings are great though I don't want to spend a long there. It's kinda like a military operation...

Then I have to visit the Magic Kingdom, caught a boat to the Wilderness Lodge and eat dinner at the Whispering Canyon before heading back to the Kingdom just to soak up the atmosphere. There you have it... day one!

Show Notes Episode 41

Hello and welcome to the show notes for episode 41 of The Minnie Minxes Disney Podcast for August 19th 2013. You will find the show on iTunes under touringplans.com Podcast Network and it is available from 19th August 2013 from around 8.30am EST. Alternatively there is a direct player available on their website http://podcast.touringplans.com

So this episode sees a review from our Kimmy on Disney animated classics and it is the turn of Bambi. Kim takes you through from how Siegmann Saltzmann's story made it to the big screen, how Disney changed the story and how it was received. Whatever your thoughts are on the film, drop us a tweet! Do you agree with our review? Do you know any insider secrets?

Then the second feature looks at how Disney animators have treat the role of mothers in their films. I don't know about you but it makes quite scary reading how many mothers are maimed or killed of in their films!

Plus we add in some Ciaran facts and there is the story of show 41!

As Michelle is in WDW at the moment, we hope you are enjoying her tweets and as you read she is out and about so if you want to meet her in the world, drop her a tweet as I gather she has some Minxey goodies to give out!

Finally, this week saw the UK release on Blu-ray of Jungle Book. I don't know about you but I cant wait for Kim to review it but in the meantime if you wish to buy it, why not click on the Amazon link to the side. Not only will you get the animated Disney classic at a good price but we get a little commission, which comes from Amazon's profits, that helps Kim and I with the show running costs. I know I did this when I bought it!!

To plan or not to plan?

Michelle's blog
Are you a planner or do you go to Disney and see what happens? Perhaps you are somewhere in between. Personally I plan. Perhaps, I may over-plan. Ok, I definitely over-plan!

My trips are currently yearly but this year could be the last trip for a long time. This is down to simple economics. Due to working in education I have no option to pay the higher costs of travelling in term time. With flight and hotel alone starting at around £1860 ($2715) per person, add in park tickets, dining, shopping and those £££ sure add up.

This means when I do get to my happy place, I want to fit in as much as I can; whether it’s a must do, or to a try to tick something off the list of things still to do. As the parks evolve there is always something new to try!

Must do treats
So I’m afraid at 180 days to departure I already have already using Touring Plans to calculate which park is the best to attend, researched every Disney eatery I wish to dine in, all of which has been my preoccupation for the past 60 days but it’s all part of the fun. So the next part is to ring WDW, hear the happy music and book the ADRs.

Now I know having all my holiday mapped out using excel spreadsheets does not sound like fun, but I assure you it is. We always treat it as a guide and do not always stick to it rigidly. For example adding in an extra magic hour session mean changing things round or dinner with friends gets bumped, no biggie!

Favourite Parade
Well next time round I will share some of the eateries I have booked but in the meantime, how and why do you choose to plan or not plan your Disney vacation? Tweet us @theminnieminxes or email contact@theminnieminxes.co.uk
